Our Story

General history

Tenute Polini

Tenute Polini is located among the smiling hills of Carassai, in the center of an uncontaminated nature still provided with its times, capable of generating good fruits through the earth, able to host the concept of work as a gift. The climate balances the soft and tasty influence of the Adriatic Sea with the cold currents and majestic peaks of the Sibillini Mountains, allowing a slow and progressive maturation of the aromas and an ideal balance between sugars and acidity.

The vineyards extend over lands that fully reflect the diversity of the territory: the red grape varieties grow on predominantly clay soils, which give structure and intensity to the wines. The white grape varieties, on the other hand, remain closer to the stream, sheltered and with a mixed soil of clay and sand, more drained and fresh. This combination of soil and climate defines a territory with a strong wine-growing vocation, capable of giving life to wines that tell the authentic essence of the Marche.

Timeline

How the farm was born

1930

Deep roots

It was 1930 when Luigi Polini, a passionate winemaker, founded Tenute Polini. Initially part of a social company, it dedicated itself to the so-called “blending wines”: a wine obtained with the aim of balancing or correcting another wine with peculiar characteristics to obtain higher quality productions, with greater numbers, destined for companies in other regions.

One Family, One Land

Luigi sows the seeds of a legacy carried forward by the second and then third generations of the family. Both grow up among the rows and are personally involved in the vineyards, from pruning to harvesting. Carefully observing the signals of nature, they interpret them and follow them without interfering. With vision and determination, it will be Luigi’s grandson, his namesake, who will expand the company, purchasing new lands and preparing it for a future of growth.

Late 80s

A Perspective Beyond Boundaries

At the end of the 1980s, following a trip to South Africa and the discovery of innovative methods such as maturing wine in wood, which was not very common in Italy at the time, people began to imagine a different way of making wine. The new century marked the birth of Tenute Polini as an independent agricultural company, dedicated exclusively to the grapes of its own vineyards and to the aging of red wines in wood with barriques and tonneaux.

The right question

An important reflection then comes that changes the course followed up to that moment: “Why continue to produce for others instead of creating something of your own and of value?” From this intuition, a new corporate identity takes shape, driven by the courage to focus on a family brand.

2024

A new chapter

In January 2024, with Francesca and her brother-in-law Simone, an oenologist, the fourth generation takes over the reins of the company. A decision inspired by events such as Covid, which pushed Francesca, a graphic designer by profession, to return home and rediscover the profound value of her family reality. The aim is to create niche products, sincere and of very high quality, representative of a land with good fruits.

“Fundamentally, we are and feel like farmers: all else shifts, grows, and evolves, yet our way of tackling life and work is unaltered..”
